Studio Art

AN INTERDISCIPLINARY INTRODUCTION TO ART

Studio Art id a class primarily for 9th graders to gain experience in a broad range of art processes, materials and concepts. Students study drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, the elements and principles of art, and art history before choosing higher level art classes as they progress through high school.

Clay Animals

Students learned sculptural techniques and practiced creating actual texture while building clay animals.

Students develop skills in using value to create realistic drawings through self portraiture. 

Contour Shoes

Students created contour drawings of their shoes using pen and India ink and then added to them with  watercolor.

Still Life Drawing

Students practiced creating value with pencil through still life drawing.

Texture

Students practiced creating texture by transforming a drawing of their hand.

Logo [re]design

Students  redesigned logos for favorite teams, clubs, companies and brands or designed logos for organizations who did not yet have one. 

Surreal Spaces

Students employ linear perspective and devices for creating a sense of depth in drawings and paintings of surreal spaces.
